The Coronally Positioned Mucosal Flap surgery (CPMF) is an elegantly straightforward, effective approach to lowering the lip when smiling. In the past, the primary solution has been to trim up excess gum tissue and reveal more tooth structure. During CPMF, gum tissue under the lip is surgically reattached to restrict the lip from raising excessively upward when smiling. An added benefit of the procedure is that the upper lip may also appear fuller when smiling.
